Fun with image generators

Over the weekend I stayed out of the cold and spent some time playing with image generators, most of which I found on http://generatorblog.blogspot.com/. I spent way too much time playing with http://makemebabies.com/ the useful results being: 1) much laughter and 2)visual proof I should never have a baby with Tom Cruise (as if I needed another reason). I also enjoyed constructing a tale on a tapestry at http://www.adgame-wonderland.de/type/bayeux.php but couldn't get the gallery to work to bring up my final product. Plenty of creative tools to put to use. My biggest challenge would be finding genuinely useful purposes for the generators--although I believe the right person could do so easily.

I'd never seen the Tale on a Tapestry site - thanks for sharing that!

I like your comment about the fact that the right person could probably think of a good, library-related use for image generators. It makes me think of Ranganathan's law: "Every book its reader." Only it could be revised as "Every technology its user." This would get at the notion that different technologies "speak" to different people, and it's the people that a particular technology speaks to that will be able to think of ways to use it.

This is part of the reason why this program looks at 23 things, as opposed to 7 or 8 - it's pretty much a given that no one will like all 23 things, but the hope is that each participant will find one or two things that they will want to incorporate into either their work or home life.
